Small is beautiful when it comes to marketing holiday homes says holiday home owners are no longer getting the level of service they demand from the ‘Big Boys’.

An industry survey by, the fastest growing holiday home marketplace, highlights a trend of customers unhappy with advertising their holiday homes on the larger, older-established rental websites.

Almost 60 per cent of owners admit that not all the holiday home websites they advertise properties on are worth the money. They cite too expensive annual fees and a lack of sufficient mediated bookings as the main reasons.

“Our survey shows many owners who pay yearly fees of up to £200 seem to be unhappy with the value of marketing and number of bookings provided,” says Marco De Gregorio, co-founder and director of

Of those who do have their own site, on average they are spending more than £200 to set it up and more than £75 per year to keep it running. Data for the Domegos Holiday Home Market Report was collected via a survey from homeowners on holiday home-related issues. The survey result is based on 186 responses collected between August 3 and August 21, 2009. The report will be published later this year.
